With this history in mind, Nasdaq has introduced the Extended Life Order (ELO), pending EC approval.

Nasdaq Extended Life Order

The Extended Life Order is designed to enhance market quality in order to attract long-term investors and their dealers. Those willing to commit liquidity to the book for a minimum time period will be rewarded with execution priority over non-ELO orders entered at the same price.
