German and Nordic Power Options

Option contracts

Nasdaq Commodities lists option contracts in the German and Nordic Power market. An option is a right to buy or sell an underlying contract at a predetermined price at a predefined date in the future. Options, combined with DS Futures and futures, offer valuable strategies for managing the risk associated with power trading.

Option contracts to buy are termed call options, and option contracts to sell are termed put options. Thus, the holder of a call has the right to buy the underlying contract, and the holder of a put has the right to sell.
